Don't forget your greens....
This event covering many issues relating to green buildings was very successful. Landlords, property services, real estate developers, surveyors, solicitors, consultants, local government, regional government and academia were all represented at the event in Newport.
The event was chaired by Professor Phil Jones of the Welsh School of Architecture and was supported by the British Property Federation. The keynote speech was given by Liz Peace (CBE) who discussed the potential Code for Sustainable Commercial Buildings as well as giving an overview on the concept of green buildings. Further presentations included an overview of the LES-TER project (Patrick Brown, Senior Policy Officer, BPF), a summary of the regulations for the certification of buildings (Dr David Strong of the UK Green Building Council), a lawyers perspective for the development of green leases (Paul Jayson & Karen Halsey of DLA Piper) and an overview of the asset values of green buildings (Miles Keeping, GVA Grimley). Dr Mark Hinnells (Environmental Change Institute) also presented the implications of the Climate Change Bill for the Non-Domestic Sector.
Angela Langley (Centre for Research in the Built Environment) also launched the release of the Good Practice Guide “Incorporating Environmental Best Practice into Commercial Lease Agreements” and associated case studies were presented by Lara Hopkinson.
These presentations are downloadable from this link.
CRiBE would like to thank Welsh Assembly Government and CNC Property Fund Management for their sponsorship of this event.
